Serving as a vital stop for travelers and traders. Redbank became an important center amidst the vast countryside of the Upper Hunter Valley. In 1834 a hospital was built on the property to serve the local community.
In 1920, William and Minnie Badgery purchased the estate and transformed it into a premium breeding ground for champion horses. Under their stewardship, the estate became home to some of Australia's finest Thoroughbreds, laying the foundation for what would later become Wakefield Stud – a name synonymous with excellence in horse breeding.
Today, Redbank Estate is nestled within Wakefield Stud, a premier Thoroughbred agistment and breeding facility located in Scone, New South Wales – Australia's horse breeding capital. For over a century, Wakefield Stud has maintained a reputation for excellence, nurturing generations of Thoroughbreds with the utmost care and expertise.
